My computer will not boot up. It will start to boot up, but nothing apears on the screen. Also, it does not even sound like it's booting up. Any iseas what the problem could be?

What kind of computer are you talking about?
Do any lights come on?
Are there any beeps?
Check the fans and see if they turn on when you first press the on switch!

Possible PSU fault?
Any error messages?
Have you made any hardware or software changes recently?

It is a Systemax desktop pc. Lights come on, but there are no beeps. The fans also work perfectly. No upgrades have been made to the computer at all.

Try replacing the on-board battery on your motherboard. That battery controls the BIOS (CMOS) configuation and when they go bad...issues as you describe are what developes.

You might try switching out the power supply unit as well. For a test it can be a lower wattage unit as all you need to do is see if the computer will get to boot...

One other issue might be that the graphics card may have become losen from a jolt or movement. Try removing and replacing the graphics card for a better connection.....(does not apply to built in graphics!)

Disconnect all hardware from the mother board one at a time. If any one peace has failed, it can cause this problem. If you don't like to wait to find out if it's a hardware problem, unplug them all and then plug them back in one at a time. I mean everything, video and sound cards included.

If you touched a positive and negative wire together, unplug your mother board from the power supply for at least one minute. Then plug it back in. Intel boards will shut down until the power is cut off to the MB and turned back on.

Unplugged everything and changed the battery. The computer still will not boot up. I have the thing stripped down to the motherboard. The only thing plugged into the motherboard is the power source, which works perfectly.

I don't know, but I would say your mother board has bit the dust. I would take it and have it check out before replacing it. If for no other reason, I would have it checked out, just for my own information.

well everybody is talking about the pc hardware and the screen ??? sure its ok ??

That's very true, I have a SyncMaster that I have to turn off and on to get it to power on once and a while.
