boot up freezing when I turn on my computer screen that lets you go into the bios by pressing the delete key stays on for at least 10 seconds, (it usually stays on for 3 seconds). Then windows loading screen comes on and when the windows flag appears it freezes and 2 minutes later it loads and everything is fine. I have eliminated all non essential programs from loading while booting up and it still happens. I checked the bios and everything seems to be ok. The voltages out of the power supply are good according to the bios. I am running windows 7 64 bit home edition. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thank you. |
Hello. Try these first: Run a full virus/spyware scan including rootkit. If this finds nothing then if you have a disc run a repair install. If you do find anything, post your findings here first. It sounds like a corrupted boot sector and the time delay maybe the pc trying to find the file/s that it needs to continue booting. Please post back if you need any assisstance with the procedures above. Thanks. Martin |
It has been awhile since I posted this problem but I repaired it. the problem was a bad SATA plug on my mother board. I must have looked at the bios setting 2 dozen times when I finally realized on of my hard drives ( i have 3) was not listed. I disconnected the plug and everything worked which lead me to believe the drive was bad but i plugged it into another SATA plug and everything worked. thank you for your suggestions |
