I love Opera, but with so many handy extensions for Firefox, I only use it at work (I have to convince my boss to allow me work with Firefox heh)

Add me to the list of Firefox lovers. This browser has been a godsend in so many ways. I hate when I am forced to use Internet Explorer on another computer. Firefox has so many wonderful extensions and themes, too.

I did try Opera for a while. It's ok. Better than IE, but not better than Firefox, in my opinion.

IE7 brings in tabbing and many other features such as phishing blocker. It still has issues as all MS software does... well all software has issues, but it is definatly a changed browser... ALL for the better!!
Opera is a decent browser, but i still like my FF, don't know why, just do.

When I'm on Windows I always use Firefox, mainly because like the others said the amount of extensions that are created. I would use Opera but I just don't like the style it renders things in, besides it doesn't have extensions to make life easier. Although Firefox might run on a XUL based engine which might take up a bit more memory space, I don't really mind. IE and IE7 are definitely what I am going to use right now. Mainly because IE 6 is too slow and IE 7 still has a long way to go in terms of compatibility and how it renders things.

While I'm on my mac it's a different story... If I'm writing a post or perhaps writing an e-mail or something like that I usually prefer Safari because of the in built spell check it has. When I'm just browsing around I prefer Firefox or Camino (well Camino is designed for OS X so it just makes the browsing experience all the more better, not to mention the GUI). So it's sort of like a three way tie between Safari, Firefox and Camino, depending on what I want to do...

Not surprised to see the overwhelming number of Firefox users here at SysChat. I absolutely love the FF browser! I hate when I have to use IE. I would use Opera (and have several times) but there are a few things I can't acquire my taste to.

trouble Kick Starting Firefox

Firefox is the best, and you can speed and tweak it even more, this works for dial up and broadband both. But when I get in the Mood for IE, I use the Alternative - Advanced Browser. It is FAST. Get it at But Let's Make Firefox Fly::::::

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar without the quotes and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set network.http.pipelining to true

Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Enjoy, Devildog

Fixed fire fox wins hands down

When I started using the internet used IE and after a while I got fed up with it and somebody told me about Opera I found that was great to start off with and then all kind of things went wrong and then I was told about Fire Fox and I've been using it ever since for about three years now. It tops the others by far. It is reliable, fast and extremely easy to use. It would be the only one I'd recommend if anyone asked me.
