I have downloaded 2 different AVI players and both work but there is no picture. Only sound. Is it the AVI movie or the program?

what you need are codecs. These are files which interpret the file's encoding, an example being standard avi, divx, or the new ogg with multiple audio support.

There is a free program available called "gspot" which you can use to determine the codecs (audio and video) which were used to create this video file. Then google the codec and find a free download

That's do nothing about your AVI player,but just because you haven't code. You can download it from internet,just like divx code.
