audio not working...help

My audio on a new to me computer I bought is not working. I have the cables plugged in correctly. Once when I plugged them in they made a weird clicking noise, but now nothing. I went into the control panel and checked there and all seems to be fine. What should I do?

you probably need to reinstall the drivers
