AMD or Intel!? Everyone has their preference and I was wondering, what's in your box? AMD or Intel? Personally, I have bought mostly intel, but the AMD 64 seems like it outperforms the new P4s. |
I prefer AMD for gaming, but Intel for working, which is my primary use on the computer. |
I have been useing AMD for years. I also like the fact its easier to overclock AMD motherboards |
Intel - All the way! |
Next month i think i am going for intel myself from a amd. As my intenet business gets bigger, i am needing more stable and faster unit. |
i would have to agree with optimit here... Amd = gaming. And for me, Intel = mostly workstations and for multiple programs. I dont notice a difference anyways. I mean i work completely, with out lag and its fast enough for me, don't want to go any faster or slower. |
Oh and one more thing I forgot about AMDs, they tend to heat up FAST, so please invest in a good fan, and not just the ones they come with! Especially if you're overclocking it, then you need some expensive fans. |
Two words: Intel Inside. I've always used Intel, and to be honest, I haven't even heard of the other one. Intel has given me the great performance for the time I have been using it, but sometimes when I play games on this computer it does lag, and I saw that one of you said AMD was better for gaming. Well, I'm not changing this computer just for games, but maybe I will buy a gaming computer (that is, when I get some extra money). |
AMD. Their X2's outperform all of Intel's offerings, and unlike Intel's EE's, the X2's don't cost $1000 a pop. For everyone saying Intel, how many of you built your computer? |
I used to be squarely in the Intel camp. I believed, at the time, that AMD was not ready for prime-time. For a long while now, though, I have been using AMDs. I do not see that changing any time see. The price/performance ratio for the AMD's still seem to be superior to Intel and I have had no real problems. One interesting thing to look at is a recent comparison C-Net did on the dual core processors for both AMD and Intel. AMD absolutely destroyed Intel. It was no contest. This makes me thinking moving forward that it makes sense to stick with AMD. I plan on building my next computer as a dual-core platform, so I do not think I have a choice but to go with AMD. The C-Net comparison is here: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10442_7...9.html?tag=btn |
Ive been using AMD now for 2 years, and ofcourse I find it better than Intel in all terms, be it speed, performance, or any other benchmarks that the comparison gurus use... Also, it comes way too cheaper than Intel :D |
amd intel is only good for video encodeing anfd decodeing, amd dont rip you off my minipulateing you mind with higher frequenceys the AMD optron 144 which can be put in a 939 and can overclocked from 1.8 to 3.1 and be stable with a HSF not a water coolingkit |

I bought a AMD Anthlon 64 2800+, this summer. It's alot better then my Intel's P3 lol ;) |
they are about the same performance overall, just you keep in mind for games AMD is better and for Video Pentium is the way to go |

mmm difficult, et me post what i think, i think that for playing the best is amd and no one can beat them, but for working and having a lot of programs open the best is intel, but now amd64 is trying to beat them, so i voted for amd |
I Have AMD |
I've only once used AMD, otherwise i have always used INTEL. So i go for INTEL. |
Ive always used Inetl as i use alot of apps and in my opinion you want AMD for games and Intel for work. Though each can handle the other. I just find that intel really does handle my multi tasking really well. I have a bad habit of doing 7 or 8 things at once and my intel machine always keeps up. My husband AMD i find gets sluggish if i load it as much. |
Same here. I use like 10 softwares at the same time, and download like 3 things at the same time and keep the comp for like the whole day, and it still works properly. |
AMD in this monster, but to be honest they both have there place, my laptop is currently an intel, so i guess i technically run both. |
AMD and Intel are basically sort of like equal companies now. Their prices also seem to be almost the same now. Before Intel Core Duo's I would say that AMD was probably the best bet because if you want a laptop with 64 bit processing chances are that you would most likely go for AMD Athlon 64 or Turion 64, but now since Intel has launched their newer ones (even though they might be a lil' late) obviously the newer the processors and chipsets are the better they get. So right now I'd say that they are equal, but Intel sort of has the upper hand because they've got a newer line of processors. |
I'd have to say AMD, though really it depends on the task or what you will be using the computer most for. If you play games a lot AMD and if you work with digital video a lot, Intel. |
intel its the one ive always used just naver tried AMD |
I've been using an AMD machine for a while now and I'm quite happy with it. AMD has been doing a good job for a long time, and they are usually a bit cheaper than intel with equivilent or better quality product. |
well, i always just have my pc assembled by somebody else and i let the person choose what processor to put...anyway, i've always had intel so i guess it's intel for me... |
Been with AMD from the time Intel moved away from you being able to swap them. Those were the days when Cyrex was around. Also find that AMD is more robust. |
Hi well, I feel Intel is good for my place because Our place is usually very hot..I think AMD produce more heat than Intel..So It's not suitable for 24/7 working hours..Also I work using many software so I didn't prefer AMD till now...But I agree AMD is very good For Gaming and small desktop applications because of their speed and Low cost..
