Everyone has their preference and I was wondering, what's in your box? AMD or Intel? Personally, I have bought mostly intel, but the AMD 64 seems like it outperforms the new P4s.

I prefer AMD for gaming, but Intel for working, which is my primary use on the computer.

I have been useing AMD for years. I also like the fact its easier to overclock AMD motherboards

Next month i think i am going for intel myself from a amd. As my intenet business gets bigger, i am needing more stable and faster unit.

i would have to agree with optimit here...
Amd = gaming. And for me, Intel = mostly workstations and for multiple programs.

I dont notice a difference anyways. I mean i work completely, with out lag and its fast enough for me, don't want to go any faster or slower.

Oh and one more thing I forgot about AMDs, they tend to heat up FAST, so please invest in a good fan, and not just the ones they come with!
Especially if you're overclocking it, then you need some expensive fans.

Two words: Intel Inside. I've always used Intel, and to be honest, I haven't even heard of the other one. Intel has given me the great performance for the time I have been using it, but sometimes when I play games on this computer it does lag, and I saw that one of you said AMD was better for gaming. Well, I'm not changing this computer just for games, but maybe I will buy a gaming computer (that is, when I get some extra money).

AMD. Their X2's outperform all of Intel's offerings, and unlike Intel's EE's, the X2's don't cost $1000 a pop.

For everyone saying Intel, how many of you built your computer?

I used to be squarely in the Intel camp. I believed, at the time, that AMD was not ready for prime-time. For a long while now, though, I have been using AMDs.

I do not see that changing any time see. The price/performance ratio for the AMD's still seem to be superior to Intel and I have had no real problems.

One interesting thing to look at is a recent comparison C-Net did on the dual core processors for both AMD and Intel. AMD absolutely destroyed Intel. It was no contest. This makes me thinking moving forward that it makes sense to stick with AMD. I plan on building my next computer as a dual-core platform, so I do not think I have a choice but to go with AMD.
