Pleeeaase someone help me. I'm working on my 12th hour straight with no accomplishments. I have Windows XP, IE (6?). Problem... Adobe flash player only works with 1 out of 3 users on the computer. When I go to mycokerewards.com with one user, the flash player works. On the other 2 users (on the same computer) to the same site and a few others, it doesn't work. I've been to the Adobe website, tried all of their solutions, no fix. I've gon to softwarepatch.com, uninstalled and installed numerous times (yes, I made sure the web browser was closed and nothing else was open and rebooted with each operation), no fix. I've checked internet security setting on all users... (download signed active x rompt, run active x controls & plug-ins rompt), all users have the same settings. I've even used a registry cleaner. That did wonders, but it didn't fix my flash player problem. A couple of weeks ago, this wasn't an issue. Yesterday it wouldn't work. Does anyone have any solutions... Please help me...

Did you try downloading and install while signed in as each user. I believe the current versions installs as a browser plugin, and each user has there own settings for browsing.

First he needs to make sure any old flash downloads are removed from the computer that he is trying to install the new versions to.

It can only be removed using the uninstaller program!

Then he needs to reinstall the flash player to the browsers for each user as reported by S-n-M.

Note*********** per, one of my and wombat's friends discovered that Ccleaner and also regscrubXP both would cause the flash programs to stop working as they both removed a (falsely reported broken pathe) registry link to the plug-in. In as such the whole thing had to be uninstalled and reinstalled to get it to work. One must be careful as to what a registry cleane removes.

I've uninstalled both from the Adobe site and also tried the uninstall from softwarepatch.com. I've also tried reinstalling with each user separately. No success, still only the same user able to use the flash player. Also, I didn't use ccleaner or regcleaner until after the flash player problem. As a matter of fact didn't even have it downloaded until the problem.

Check the internet security settings on the accounts that are not working.

To change your security level:

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Choose Tools > Internet Options.
3. Select the Security tab.
4. Select Custom Level.
5. Find the section "ActiveX controls and plug-ins".
6. Set ' Download Signed ActiveX Controls' to Prompt.
7. Set 'Run ActiveX Controls And Plug-ins' to Prompt.

If you are having trouble installing, make sure that your Internet Explorer security level is not set to High or to a custom level that does not allow viewing of ActiveX controls.

One other thing that you might try....
back up and save only those files that are neccessary for each user. Then delete the user accounts WITHOUT saving the files contained...you just backed up the important files and can reinstall them.

Recreate the user accounts without the backup files. See if the flash player then works for each user account as it will be embedded in the working browser already...it should work with each user.

If no go...then try to download the flash player to each user's browser.

if the flash works then reload the backup files and see if there is something they did to stop the program from working!

Squirrelnmoose... I've already checked steps 1-7 and that was already as you suggested. Internet Explorer level is not set on high. But my apologies, I'm totally a beginner here with this computer stuff... what do you mean by a custom level that won't allow viewing of ActiveX controls?

Lurkswithin... As a beginner, you just blew me away with all that you said. I have no idea where to begin or how to do what you just suggested.

Also, what I'm really not understanding here is that a couple of weeks ago the flashplayer worked for all users. Now only one user. No settings were manually changed, nor were there any new programs installed or downloaded, no new updates on anything either.

New poster. I have a similar problem to Pirate's... I'm getting flash9e.ocx errors. Some sites seem to work; others don't. I've tried running Adobe's Uninstaller, rebooted, cleared all temporary Internet files / cookies, etc. I've also tried downloading and installing the latest version player from Adobe (v 9.0.115.0) multiple times. It's THIS vesion that's causing the problems.

I'm running Windows 2000 SP-4 / IE 6.0 SP-1. My Internet security settings are a customized "medium"; with only "Initialize and script Active-X controls not marked as safe" set to 'Prompt'. Everything else is set to 'Enable'.

I've been a "grunt" front-line desktop tech for a little over 12 years; and this one's got me banging my head.

Any other ideas?

This seems to be a big thing going on with the new flash update 9 seies.

Some have reported to uninstall and revert back (reinstall) to the older flash 8 and can be found :

another work around was to re-register the files

regsvr32 /u C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9e.ocx

regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9e.ocx

(start > run and paste each line seperately in the box)

There was also a link that sound blaster audio files were(might) have been the cause of the failure.

If you have sound blaster audio installed then uninstall the drivers and see if it clears the issues with flash and then reinstall the drivers
