I have a poblem with my recycle bin

Dear all

I have a poblem with my recycle bin. My OS is Windows XP with SP2. When I click to empty recycle bin I get the following message :

Error deleting file or folder
Cannot delete desktop : access is denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

I click OK

And the message disappears to return again immediately.

I press OK again and the recycle bin empties.

Surely this is not the way I know how the recycle bin should operate normally.

Can anyone offer me some advice how to get rid of this nuisance and problems.
