sorry to jump in here in the middle but what printers do you have installed? The error message you mentioned in the 1st mail strongly suggests that it's a corrupted or "mis-installed" printerdriver that't the culprit. For a generic fix (complicated but doable, have done it meself in the past with a Canon MP) check this KB article from MS:
"Spooler subsystem app has encountered a problem and needs to close" and "Operation could not be completed" error messages
Tell us what printerdrivers you have, maybe someone has experience with some of them...
