Hello, open up IE, go to Tools>Internet Options>Content>AutoComplete> and check the box for prompting for your passwords.

As far as opening up maximised windows, links will always open up how they were shut down for the last one you used ( excluding when you maximised it! ). Go to your Internet Options again and go to the tab settings, play around with them a bit and see if you can find a setting that you can live with.
