I am buying a new laptop , and i willl use 512 kbps net connection in the new laptop , i want to know what should be the minimum configuration to effectively use the 512 kbps net connection.

It's as simple as plugging the ethernet cable in to the modem / router and the nic. Nothing more to be done as the nic drivers have been installed when the mobo drivers were installed...

Edit: This is assuming you already have your ISP's username and password already in the modem / router...
