One more thing to take in consideration and that is the noise generated by the faster drives.

I remember that Seagete 10k SCSI drives were very fast but had extremely annoying sound.
15k ones are probably even worse.

7200 is pretty much the standard now and you might as well stick with it unless your applications demand something really extreme.
