hi angie1
i have some questions:
1. what version of windows are you using?
2. before the sound problem on your computer happened, was the via program already installed?
my initial thoughts on this is that the tech support person must have installed the latest/default sound drivers AND the additional sound checking/equalizer program.
it could be that before you had the sound problem on your computer, you only had the basic sound driver that windows needed to play sound. when the tech support guy fixed your sound problem, he may have chosen to do the default installation that includes the additional via program
if this is the case, then its safe to remove the via program, and leave only the sound driver installed.
one thing to consider is that you save a copy of the installer file for your computer's sound driver and that via program (in case its needed to work with sound adjustment settings on your computer)
